Before demo

Sorry to say we are not TV personalities with an all in budget into the hundreds of thousands, or multiple work crews.  So Demo Day, is actually the better part of a week.  Monday after we unloaded our belongings and returned the Uhaul truck, we took time to sit in the building and take stock of our decision.  Tuesday we met with a local plumber and welcomed a 30’foot dumpster (that is now completely full).  Wednesday and Thursday saw the last of the ceiling and built in cabinet bases being taken up and out.  Friday was carpeting day. The carpet was glued, GLUED everywhere to the cement floor.  After an hour of trying a few different techniques we hit upon one that made the work easier.  (If there is such a thing when pulling up carpet).  I cut the carpet in 16 inch strips, Ricky yanked them from the floor and dear old Dad made the trek up the stairs to the dumpster.  Within 3 hours the carpet was out.  Yesterday we sanded the floor.  It has been a tiring week, but we have accomplished all of the needed demolition so that the rebuild can begin.
