“I love the Piano….I love the  P-I-A-N-O-O- oh…..  ”   Anyone remember this tune sung by Burl Ives?  My parents owned a stereo system that played LP’s (If you are too young to know….google it).  I often listened to this album, typically during chores on Saturday morning, when I was suppose to be dusting the house or finishing the dishes.  As luck would have it the original piano of the church is still in the sanctuary, and every time I lay eyes on this piece of history I hum this tune.  I’ve done a little digging on the internet and through my brief research on the serial number I know that this piano was made in Chicago between 1913-1917 (pre-WWI).  Ebay and the online piano experts will say that this instrument has a monetary value of a few hundred dollars, but I think it is priceless.  Priceless due to the inexplicable thought that this is a piece of the buildings history.  This piano has all but one ivory still intact, a wonderful solid sound and it has been the sentinel for every wedding, funeral and Christmas program for almost a century.  How could I not love this piano.
