Memorial Day began at 7:25 a.m. The Honor Guard from Maiden Rock, Wisconsin assembled to pay homage and honor to the sole veteran at the Little Plum Lutheran Cemetery that sits behind our place. Rick and I attended the brief ceremony and then thanked these men for their past service to our country and their present service at Memorial Day. This group of vets had a packed schedule and Little Plum was the first stop on their eleven (11) Honor Ceremonies to make for the day. It was one of the hottest Memorial Days in 25 years, clocking in at 94 degrees. Humid, with a healthy dollop of mosquitoes and gnats. It is with great respect that Rick and I commemorate Memorial Day at Little Plum with this Honor Guard. We look forward to next year (and several more) spending our earliest time on this day to take a moment to pause and remember our servicemen (and women) who gave much for our country. To the Honor Guard….well done men, well done!
