The summer has slipped by. Where has the time gone? Ricky and I lost a couple of weeks when we both were down with the dreaded C-virus in July. Right at the heart of blackberry season. I managed to drag myself out to the garden to do some work, but I admit that our new ‘back’ garden got away from me. Started with a vision of precision and bounty, the squash and beans soon took over everything. I managed a small harvest of onions and the beans have produced more than enough for me to can. In a week or so I can cut through the jungle and harvest winter squash and potatoes. This is what I learned to love about gardening, to expect the unexpected.
