Happy 4th of July friends and family. I know I am a few days ahead of the holiday, but for the first time in months Rick and I can see the finish line of our basement bungalow. We officially ‘moved’ to the basement, from the sanctuary two weeks ago. 98% of the work is complete, furniture has been moved (and purchased), and sleeping in a bedroom is much more relaxing than sleeping in the sanctuary.
Whenever I get a bit discouraged over minor issues, I flip back through some of the photographs from March. This has been a huge undertaking and progress has moved forward with a few minor set backs. Rick has slowed his work days down to finally enjoy his ‘retirement’. He is taking time for jeep rides and pondering. I finished substitute teaching on Friday. It was a perfect day to embrace the science of bubbles and I had a great time with the students. We still have some trims to put in the closets and kitchen, hang one cupboard in a bathroom and install the bedroom doors, all to be done in an days labor.
I am still going through boxes in the sanctuary. Downsizing and creating an ever growing pile of assorted items, books and clothing to go to Goodwill. Do a really need this? If it has been in storage for 6 months and I haven’t noticed the answer is obvious…no and away it goes.
As we look ahead to July we are grateful for this journey. We look forward to the big family reunion, some minor outside repairs and moving our efforts and attention to the school house. You may notice some major changes to the website in August as I retool the site and focus on the school. Have a safe and happy 4th of July.
