Last Saturday, October 19. Ricky and I had the opportunity to share the history of Little Plum School with a few members of the community as part of the Pepin County Historical Society fall education event. We had a small group of about 20 people in attendance. The power point presentation was well received and I shared not only the history of the school, but how to go about finding pieces of information using the internet, local libraries and area research centers. We were fortunate to have a few people who attended a one room school. Pictured are Lila Moline who started at Little Plum School in 1929 at the age of 5 (Yes, she is 95 years old and sharp as a whip) and Bill Anderson who attended Ella school just 5 miles north of Little Plum (A youngster in his late 60’s). It is always encouraging to speak with people who appreciate the ongoing work Ricky and I do to preserve this little piece of history. We are gearing up for our big birthday bash weekend November 1, 2 and 3.
